In the state of Gujarat, the divide between women in rural areas and those in urban cities is large. While commendable work is being done in the field, the life and struggles of women in rural areas are not visible to those living in cities. This divide between the two has been so wide that those in cities have not been able to hear the voices from the rural areas. This has created a representation divide. A genuine connection between the two has to be made to have genuine awareness, which is not happening. Helping or understanding the plight of something or someone is difficult when you can’t see or hear them.
The idea behind the formation of Youth Representation for Action Gujarat (Y-RAG) was to bridge this divide. Our idea is to share stories that can melt this divide, to have genuine conversations that can bridge the divide, and to take it to the next level by creating a community that can unite all, regardless of their location.
