Some of the most important work happens far from where most people are scrolling. This project set out to change that, through a series of short human-impact videos that amplify Utthan Gujarat’s work across women’s empowerment, water access, climate resilience, and agriculture.
Conceptualised, scripted, and edited for digital platforms like Instagram and YouTube, the videos translate grassroots fieldwork into stories that urban audiences can actually see, understand, and share, closing the distance between rural realities and the feeds of people who rarely encounter them.
The impact didn’t stop at the content. The initiative also produced simple training guidance for student volunteers interested in creating responsible advocacy media, with a focus on ethical storytelling and honest representation, so that the next wave of creators tells these stories with the care they deserve.
More than a video series, it is a small blueprint for how advocacy media can be made thoughtfully, and shared widely.
A campaign became a platform for change. In support of Utthan Gujarat, an organisation that has spent over four decades building villages rooted in gender justice and empowering women and girls across rural Gujarat, this ongoing campaign is raising funds for the NGO’s grassroots programmes spanning women’s safety, climate resilience, and economic empowerment.
Built around themes of South Asian identity, cultural storytelling, and community, the initiative uses the arts as a medium and advocacy as its message, drawing students and community members into a conversation about rural realities that too often go unheard in urban spaces.
Beyond the funds raised, the campaign documents its own ripple effects: the outreach, the audience engagement, and a set of reflections on how urban communities respond when rural advocacy takes the stage. More than a fundraiser, it is a reminder that storytelling, paired with purpose, can move both people and resources toward the communities that need them most.
The fundraiser is live and still accepting donations. Every contribution goes directly toward Utthan Gujarat’s work supporting survivors and empowering women and girls across rural Gujarat.
